Some people say that they won't become Christians because there are Christians in the Church. While it is true that there are hypocrites in the Church, this has nothing to do with the truth of the Bible. They are dishonest and hypocritical inspite of what the Bible says, not because of it. Hypocrites are often "holier-then-thou" types and televangelist-like showmen, who like to show off how "devout" they are (and they often aren't) in order to bring honour and attention to themselves, not God. True Christians are not hypocritical, and should not be. Pray for those you know who are hypocrites. Think about it this way, you hear about quack doctors all the time, but does that make all doctors bad people? No. The same is true for Christians. The point is God is perfect, not those who claim to follow him. The hypocrite excuse is a weak one, one of many road blocks that people erect in their minds to keep them from accepting Christ. People usually think about a few high profile incidents and white wash based on those. This is irrational. I'm willing to bet that for every Jimmy Swaggert in the world there's at least one Charles Spurgon or Billy Sunday. For more information, check out www.christiananswers.net/q-aiia/hypocrisy.html.
