If anyone needs proof that the internet has made people lazier, just look at the number of acronyms for even the shortest words and phrases. Really, how much effort does it take to type "that's funny," or "I enjoyed that"? Because they are so large in number, it can be confusing and/or intimidating to try and understand them all. That why I've decided to write these laws to explain their general meaning. - People who use internet acronyms are usually 14-year-old snots, or at least have the mindset of one.
- No one is ever doing what is specified in their acronyms. For example, nobody who types "lol" is actually laughing, and if they are it certainly isn't "out loud".
- Because they are actually typing, acronym users are actually a step up from emoticon users, but not that much of a step mind you.
And the three reasons people use internet: - To show shallow approval for alleged humour on weblogs and internet forums (usually some stupid list, video, or jpeg).
- To show off their vast internet vocabulary so as not to look like a novice in front of the other computer geeks.
- To be cute and/or irritating (usually the same thing).
Not to sound condescending, but I really find it hard to take someone seriously when they use online acronyms. It just seems lazy and juvenile.
