It's a given that if you put something on the internet, there's a demographic that will worship it like an idol, no matter how stupid it is. By now you've probably heard of and/or seen the "Numa Numa" video, the latest in a long line of fad movies that have popped up online. Before that there was the "Star Wars kid," and I imagine some other portly chap decides to make a fool of himself in front of a webcam. Well far be it from me to regulate what someone can and cannot do with a webcam, but I just don't see what's so funny.
What's worse are the legions of maroons who keep linking, posting, and e-mailing all this dumb online humour, spreading it like herpes. Some go so far as to create websites that stockpile these videos, gaining a cult following that deifies their worthless opinions. And it's worth noting that most of these so-called "humour websites" aren't really that funny. But like all cults, anyone who criticizes it is attacked and shunned by its loyal followers.
I'm not saying people shouldn't be allowed to make fools of themselves, just that there are better things we could use the internet for.
