I would like to write a brief few sentences about what can be described as 'christophobia', The exaggerated and illogical fear and/or hatred of Christians and/or Chistianity on the internet. I've seen people call believers all manour of insulting names including 'superstitious', 'brain-washed', 'homophobic', and 'stupid'. If that's not enough, if seen whole websites and weblogs dedicated to hateful, unintelligeble, ignorant, and sometimes even paranoid blasts against Christianity.
Based on my own observations, Christianity is not only the most persecuted faith in the world, but the most scorned one on the internet. It's almost socially acceptable, even mandatory in some circles to bash Christianity.
So what can we do? The first thing to do is to pray for these people. Also, don't waste your time by answering every unsophisticated, foul-mouthed tirade you find online (and there are plenty). That would be casting your pearls before swine (Matthew 7:6) and you might unintentionally acting according to whatever stereotype they have constructed in their minds. Most of these people have come from hypocritical bakgrounds that do not reflect true born-again faith. They need to be shown there is a difference. Pray that they will. Also, be sure to act in a manour that will honour God, and not bring glory to yourself. Be consistant with your actions, pray, and read your Bible.
