I sent these questions to ScripturesSay.com and recieved the following response. In it, they quoted the flawed New American Standard Bible (NASB). Hence, I have taking the liberty of replacihg their scripture quotations with text from the AV1611.
"Wasn't Noah overreacting when he cursed his grandson because his son saw him naked? Why did he curse his grandson and not his son, since he was the guilty party?"
Their reply:
"Ham's sin was not in seeing his father nakedness, (that could have been unintentional), but rather his sin was in telling his brothers and rediculing his father. Today, it is not uncommon for children to poke fun at their fathers. But in Bibilical times it was a reflection of their disrespect for the Supreme Father of truth.
Since we are not told specifically why Canaan was the one cursed, we can only gather from history that since Ham's sin insulted his father, Ham was passed over in silence as though his conduct made him unworthy of mention for either a blessing or a curse. He became a non-entitity.
The whole weight of Noah's displeasure instead falls upon the son of Ham, Canaan and on his descendants, who would suffer as slaves to future generations of their enemies.
This is next seen in the conquest of Canaan by Joshua. Later the entire race was enslaved by one of the most terrible and degrading forms of idolatry. Some of those descendants are today's nations of Iran, Egypt and Arabia.
Listen to these New Testament passages spoken by Christ, especially noting Matt 15 and Mark 7.
(Mat 15:4) For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.
(Mat 19:19) Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
(Mark 7:10) For Moses said, Honour thy father and thy mother; and, Whoso curseth father or mother, let him die the death:
(Mark 10:19) Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother.
(Luke 18:20) Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother.
(Eph 6:2) Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise;
Bob"
