No. This popular saying is a misquote of 1 Timothy 6:10, which actually goes "For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows." So we could say that the "love of money" is the root of all evil to, but then there would be no devil. The verse is not meant to be taken literally, and simply means that the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. Indeed, loving money and lusting after riches will distract you from dedicating your life to God.
